KORU GATE 1553
KORU GATE

"Koru Gate" is an extension of the Braille Art Concept into tactile art. Art that can be touched and "seen" by visually impaired and sighted viewers. The Koru is a symbol adopted by the New Zealand Maori as a symbol signifying new life or rebirth. The shape is derived from the seed head of the New Zealand fern. This natural symbol is married in this work with the European gate that divides neighbour from neighbour, and the ubiquitous corrugated iron also used in European construction is in the fun title. The piece measures 350mm x 670mm
